sergei mikhailovich prokudin-gorskii, a russian photographer who made amazing color photographs at the turn of the century. his process involved photographing a scene through three-color filters and making transparencies because he couldn’t make prints. however with current digital technology the library of congress has reconstructed them as they were meant to look. check out their mini-site about him here.
