supernice

This is Vanessa's personal tumblrzine, for family and friends everywhere. I like all sorts of stuff, and I like to share.

If you'd like to see my work work, skip on over to www.vanessaholden.com.

In my real life you can find me at vanessaholden[at]mac[dot]com; in studios and meetings & offices quite (but not too) often; most happily at the beach; at Pearl Paint buying stuff for a project; at La Colombe or The Adore, & sometimes (just quietly) at Beard Papa, but then I don't like to talk about that particular addiction.

All this kaffiyeh talk is making me nostalgic: yes, that’s me in ooh, maybe 1986/7 when the kaffiyeh was no freakin’ laughing matter (and Before The Age of the Hipster). I love this pic: it’s an excellent reminder of how seriously I took art and fashion and (pop) culture in my teens (at the time I subscribed to Interview, The Face and Stiletto and Follow Me, and was just about as earnestly indy/downtown-y as a girl from the Sydney beaches could be - you see in my face This Style Is No Joke). You think the red cowboy hat, or Benetton-y Fair Isle sweater are key to this ferocity? Well, you can’t see the suede moccassins I’m rocking in this pic - now they were the clincher. I remember the night this pic was taken so clearly, and I thought I was the hottest thing on earth. So awesome. So misguided, but so so awesome, just as your teens should be.
