This is a-mazing, and well worth the seven or so minutes viewing time. I like that it provides subtle evidence of my personal belief that pieces of everyday life are real art, and are worth pausing for, and celebrating … (via rach who as a curator of fascinating things is quite the artist)
The Tuymans Project — a Belgian arts channel called Klara.be did an experiment where they installed a work by painter Luc Tuymans on the street in Antwerp to see who would stop to look at it. After two days, only 4% of people stopped to look at the painting. It brings up some really interesting questions, primarily whether or not art really is about context, and how to get people to look for visual stimulus in their daily lives, not just inside institutions and galleries. Way to be provocative, Belgium. (link)
