supernice

This is Vanessa's personal tumblrzine, for family and friends everywhere. I like all sorts of stuff, and I like to share.

If you'd like to see my work work, skip on over to www.vanessaholden.com.

In my real life you can find me at vanessaholden[at]mac[dot]com; in studios and meetings & offices quite (but not too) often; most happily at the beach; at Pearl Paint buying stuff for a project; at La Colombe or The Adore, & sometimes (just quietly) at Beard Papa, but then I don't like to talk about that particular addiction.

You see this is all I really need. Actually less than this: you could keep the dog.

simoncooks: a little video from our trip to highland mountain in new hampshire this past weekend.

This is what Simon does while I’m sitting myself down on a beach (Coney Island last weekend). Nice eh?

You don’t need to see to swim. I’ve swum my whole life without ever opening my eyes.

The summer of ‘08, historians will most likely tell us, signaled the rise of a multi-power, non-Western-dominated planet. It also was the time when it became clear that the American Century would not lap over from the 20th into the 21st.
Harold Meyerson - The Drums of Change - washingtonpost.com (via robot-heart) (via rach) Oh hello America. Fascinating.

these are all for supernice! hope this helps (or maybe hurts?) the homesickness. our swimming babies are doing really well. and unlike michael phelps and co, have some idea on how to be gracious in victory.
Too much awesome!! I’m watching the capital- A All American All The Time edition of the Olympics - v.different to the awesome Australian version you guys are seeing, I’m sure. It’s like I’m watching a completely different event - I guess it kind of is a completely different event depending where you’re from/ if you’re winning or losing … Don’t get me started on Michael Phelps, oh, or the tone and turn of phrase the NBC ‘sportscasters’ use - re: oh, other countries athletes (they’re from countries we haven’t heard of! they win in sports we don’t compete in!), how cute and funny the Chinese are (they eat weird things!, they don’t think for themselves that’s why they’re medal winning machines!) … good grief. What I’d give for a night at home watching Channel 7 …
